The Urdu and Persian Research Organization (UPRO) is an autonomous, non-governmental scholarly organization in India dedicated to the advancement, promotion, and preservation of Urdu and Persian language, literature and social studies. Established on 1st January 2016, the organization is headquartered in Purana Pura (Pura Maroof), Kurthi Jafarpur, Mau, Uttar Pradesh, a culturally vibrant region known for its literary heritage. Founded through the sustained efforts of Maulana Irshad Husain and Dr. Faizan Haider, UPRO aims to address contemporary challenges facing Urdu and Persian studies, support researchers, and revive interest in classical textual traditions.
The institute actively engages in publishing rare manuscripts, critical editions, and scholarly works in both languages. Over the years, it has produced a substantial body of literary and academic publications that contribute meaningfully to Indo-Persian studies. A major flagship venture of the institute is its internationally indexed, peer-reviewed quarterly research journal “Faizan-e-Adab” (ISSN: 2456-4001), which provides a vibrant forum for academics, researchers, and literary scholars across the globe.
